About us

Our gastroenterology team specialises in issues related to the digestive system, the pancreas and the liver. Hepatology deals specifically with liver problems.

The team is based at Kingston Hospital but also provides community clinics at Raynes Park Health Centre and Glenlyn Medical Centre in East Molesey.

We see more than 2,400 new patients and 3,750 follow-up patients each year.

We care for patients with a wide range of conditions and symptoms including:

  • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Bowel and stomach cancer
  • Jaundice
  • Cirrhosis
  • Hepatitis
  • Acid reflux
  • Coeliac disease

We also offer an IBD flare line, which should be contacted at khft.Ibdadviceline@nhs.net in the following circumstances:

  • If you feel you are not on top of your symptoms
  • If you have not responded to your current medication
  • If a flare comes back when you are reducing the dose of your steroids or within three months of stopping treatment
  • If you have had two or more courses of steroids in the past 12 months
  • If you develop any side-effects to medication
  • To discuss pregnancy planning
  • If you become pregnant
  • If you are losing weight without dieting
