The service sees patients who have an abnormal chest X-ray or symptoms that may be linked to a lung cancer.

About us

The service operates from Monday to Friday, but investigations may also take place at weekends.

The service follows the standards set out in the National Optimal Lung Cancer Pathway. The aim is to ensure that any patient referred under the suspicion of lung cancer undergoes all necessary diagnostic tests and receives communication ruling out, or confirming, a cancer diagnosis within 28 days.

The team includes:

  • Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Patient Navigator
  • Consultant Respiratory Physician
  • Consultant Radiologist
  • Radiographers
  • Respiratory Physiologist

We provide advice and support to patients throughout their journey to the point of diagnosis. If patients are diagnosed with a lung cancer, their care is seamlessly passed onto the lung cancer nurse specialists and oncology teams.

How to refer

Patients with abnormal chest X-rays are automatically referred from the radiology department here at Kingston Hospital to the service.

GPs can refer via the 2WW E-Referral Service using the Pan London Suspected Cancer Referral Form.
